Choosing a Harp
(A 'Twpsyn' is a humorous Welsh word for calling an affectionate friend stupid)

The following notes are intended as a guide together with hints and tips when choosing a harp for home construction, be it folk harp or student harp. Alternatively you may wish to make a non-pedal harp as a DIY project or an exercise in craftsmanship.

Should your choice be?

1. A craft exercise that could result in a gift, which may stimulate the musical interest in a family offspring and then handed down to future generations.

2. An ambitious craftsman requiring occupational therapy to fill in leisure time and reap     the rewards with a sense of achievement, pride of possession and following the tradition of famous instrument makers signing name and date of manufacture on the inside of the sound board during construction.

3. Build one of the Worlds oldest multi strung musical instruments in a traditional shape using modern methods and technology at the fraction of the cost of a purchased item.

4. We offer you a choice of several types of harps, starting with the simplest to build.
           a. The 32 String Slim line Gothic. The construction is simple, material birch plywood, strips of hard wood, no complicated joints, rugged yet light in weight, stylish in appearance and giving a pleasant tone. Ideal for the complete beginner and good value for cost, time and effort. All models are drawn full size and the parts cut out from the drawings, can be pasted onto thin plywood sheets and used as templates.
