History and Achievements
1973 Commissioned by Nansi Richards (Telynores Maldwyn) to make a 75 string triple harp for her 50th anniversary return to America. For almost 60 years this wonderful instrument had not been produced on a production basis by harp makers in Wales. This was probably due to the shyness of harpists who were taught on the pedal harp and found the technique of playing the triple harp difficult and the fact that the few triple harps in existence were in a poor condition; also they could not be brought up to modern day pitch .

However, since 1973, Telynores Maldwyn had given many recitals on stage, radio and television playing the triple harp, which raised a tremendous amount of popularity amongst harpists, who, for a number of years , have sought to challenge the mystique which had always surrounded this wonderful instrument.

1975 Mr. Wyn Hughes a postgraduate from Aberystwyth University was shortly to leave on a two year project in Honiara the capital city of the Solomon Islands. Being a keen pianist he was extremely disappointed that he couldn’t transport his piano to Honiara. To keep his musical interest alive, he decided to teach himself the art of playing the harp. On arrival at my home he was keen to purchase a 36-string student but unfortunately I had none in stock other than the prototype. So with some trepidation I reluctantly sold him the 36-string prototype. Two years later on a return visit to the UK. Wyn called in to buy some replacement strings and then I realised by the expression on his face that I had made the correct decision.

This sale was the first of 377 sales of that model.
